Background

Ssaza mawokota Football club is one of the key football teams that make up the Buganda Kingdom Tournament of Massaza cup Tournament.

Ssaza Mawokota football club’s name comes from;

SSAZA meaning County.

Mawokota:  The name of the county, located in Mpigi district central Uganda.

Massaza cup has been played by teams found in different counties of Buganda Kingdom since 2003. SSaza mawokota being one of the counties that make up the 18 counties of Buganda Kingdom formed the mawokota football club in 2003 and has been participating in the Buganda kingdom Tournament since then.

SSAZA mawokota Football club is found in mawokota Mpingi district and is one of the most popular and strongest Football clubs in the massaza cup organized by Buganda Kingdom with full authority from his Royal highness the Kabaka of Buganda.

Massaza cup tournament is a very competitive Foot ball tournament and the 18 teams that make up the tournament include;

Busiro,Gomba,Ssingo,Buwekula,Bulemezi,Buruli,Buddu,mawogola,Kabula,koochis,kyagwe,Butambala,busuju,ssese,buvuma,mawokota,Bugerere, kyadondo. All these are the counties that make up the Buganda kingdom and are located in central Uganda.

Massaza cup is always presided over by the king of Buganda, His royal Highness, Kabaka ronald muwenda mutebi, both the opening and closing of the matches.

Maasaza cup attracts a large audience across the country during the matches and is being watched by all the different age groups across the country, while particularly Buganda loyalist find it almost one of their cultural obligations to watch the football matches played by the teams in Massaza cup because the teams are being supported by the different counties in the kingdom and winning the tournament is sign of pride to the county of His Royal Highness the King of Buganda.

Ssaza mawokota football team is currently interested in having a partnership with crown beverages to enable it achieve the following needed resources so as the football team can be in position to develop into a bigger team than its current position.

Because of these challenges facing ssaza mawokota Football club, it has not been able to sustain itself  in many ways like paying players, building its on football stadium and having its own  bus.

It’s against this Background that Ssaza mawokota Football club is seeking financial support from crown beverages to be able to purchase some of the following items to facilitate its growth into a big football club.

Football jerseys for foot ballers

The football jerseys will help in providing the uniforms for the team and some will be sold to the fans to generate income.

Currently we do not have enough uniforms for the foot ballers and this has affected the football team since we need the uniforms for training sessions and also for playing. The uniforms colours also change basing on the opponent that the team is facing but the logo designs remains the same.

Selling the teams’ uniforms to the fans is one of the most important sources of raising revenue and therefore this will enable the teams raise funds to meet its future needs like constructing the football teams’ stadium and also buying bus for the team.

Team players

Ssaza mawokota currently has a total of 25 football players who are in different age groups and experience yet the team only has 11 football jerseys this therefore indicates that the team players have to share football jerseys something that inconveniences the foot ball team.

Shoes for foot ballers

The football team currently is facing a challenge for football  shoes the team players donot have enough shoes and this has hampered the team in ability to perform well. Since the shoes are needed both for training aka. Training shoes and the playing shoes.

The team welcomes any assistance to this course and this will help its players in loving the game and increasing their commitment to the sport.

Soccer

The team also currently is facing a challenge of balls for playing and training sessions, therefore any assistance in this area will be welcomed with open arms. Soccer balls helps foot ball players to have enough resources for training and this increases their professional skills there by enabling them to perform well during soccer matches.

Contribution for construction of football stadium is also welcome

Currently ssaza mawokota has land for the construction of a football stadium, this land was given to the football club by Buganda Kingdom and the club uses it both for training sessions and hosting football competition against its opponents.

The construction of the football stadium will help in providing revenue to the club so that it can sustain itself. The revenue will be got by charging the fans fees for entry.

Currently  the club charges fans a total of 5,000 shillings for entry to watch foot matches, however when the football stadium is finished the club will be able to sell different tickets for fans like those who will sit at the pavilion will be charged a higher figure estimated at 20,000 shillings and others will be charged 10,000 shillings.

This revenue generated will therefore be of great importance to the club as it will enable the football club meet its daily expenses and pay players a good wages.

Team Bus

The ssaza mawokota team is also in need of Bus. The Bus will enable the team be in position to transports its football players to football matches, this will also be hired once in a while to the teams to help in raising the revenue for the team.

Project summary

The formation of ssaza mawokota Football club was an initiative from the Buganda Kingdom to develop the culture of Buganda, create unity among the community members and also develop an avenue for the youth to develop their talents.

Ssaza Mawokota Football club has numerous benefits to the community these includes;

It is a source of pride to Mpigi district and Buganda kingdom as whole.

It is a source of employment to the youths who may otherwise have been unemployed, these youths are employed as; Football players, gate cash collectors, lines men, coaches, referees, medical team , cooks and others.

Creates unity among the community members in Mawokota, Mpigi district and this reduces conflicts and increases community development in the area for example the members in Mpigi district identify themselves with Ssaza Mawokota Football club.

Key Achievements

Ssaza mawokota Football club is one of the key giants in the Tournament having won the massaza cup Tournament three times in 2005, 2007 and 2013. This therefore has made it to have more fans across the country and it is watched by many people in the whole country when it’s playing.

Ever since 2003 Ssaza Mawokota Football club has trained many footballers who have gone to other football clubs and some of them have also gone to become football coaches in other football clubs.

The team has also been recognized by His Royal Highness the Kabaka of Buganda as one of the teams which have a future in football and improving the community.

Every of end of month the Team is involved in community development initiative for raising awareness about HIV/AIDS disease and encouraging the community members to always use ABC in the fight against HIV/AIDS that is; A is for Abstain, B is for Being faithful and C is for condom.

The partnership between crown beverages and Sssaza mawokota Football club will be a win win for both of the Football club and crown beverages.

Crown beverages ltd will be able to have a deeper penetration into the Heart of the central Uganda which is mainly composed of Baganda and other members since the central region is mainly a cosmopolitan area.
