documentary review
Documentary analysis is a qualitative data collection strategy that enables researchers to use secondary data to address their research questions. According to Creswell (2013), this method involves examining documents to capture trends and events, such as those related to environmental management in the Albertine region. It is particularly valuable for studies aiming to gain an in-depth understanding of historical narratives.
In this study, I explored the role of the church in environmental stewardship in the Albertine region. Therefore, documentary analysis is a pertinent strategy for examining archival materials and scholarly resources on this topic. During data collection, John Creswell (2013) recommends that researchers keep a journal, collect and analyze all relevant public documents, and review records to validate primary findings. This approach to documentary analysis was faithfully implemented in line with Creswell’s guidance.

The researcher reviewed documents like minutes of meetings, operational budgets, budget reports, financial reports and the ministry of education and sports financial guidelines. These were checked because they are the basic indicators of a financial position of a school. This method was used because it enables the researcher access data at his or her convenient time, obtain data that are thoughtful in that the informants have given attention in obtaining them and enables the researcher obtain data in the language of the respondent (Oso & Onen, 2008).
A survey method is a strategy to collect quantitative data that can provide descriptions of trends, attitudes or opinions of a population by studying a sample population of that population (Creswell, 2009, p.145). This method serves the purpose of generalizing from the sample population, so that inferences can be about some characteristics, behaviors and perspective of a population. For this reason, survey method is adopted in this study to identify the attributes of a large population from small group of individuals (Babbie, 1990; Foweler, 2002; cited in Creswell, 2009, p.146). This approach collected data using survey questionnaire. The questionnaires were in English and administered by research assistants who can translate the questionnaire during data collection and interact with the participants in the local languages.
1.3.7 Data Analysis Techniques
During the analysis, qualitative data analysis was conducted by thematic content analysis and interpretive phenomenology. As explained by Graff (2017), through thematic analysis, “content of data is analyzed to generate and categorize recurring themes. Data is coded and categorized to identify the themes” (2017, p.59). This was done with the help of excel code sheet. The qualitative analysis considered the research objectives and thematic narratives emerging from different sources. The quantitative data were analyzed through descriptive statistics and excel code sheet to understand the data trends. The responses were analyzed and presented as percentage responses in frequency tables.
1.3.8 Ethical Consideration
Bhandari (2021) argued that a critical issue in every research is that the participants should be granted informed consent before they participate in the study. Before the research, the research clarified the nature of the research, and participation in the study will be voluntary and based on informed consent. The participants were informed of the right to withdraw from the study at any point if they desire. Participants were also informed that they had to choose not to answer any questions if they felt uncomfortable in answering them. Confidentiality was discussed with the participants before they participated in the study.

Respondents were assured of complete confidentiality to the extent that none of their cases were reported in a way that can be traced back to the respective respondent. Before engaging in a conversation with an interviewee, I would always put clear the research purpose, the intention of the interview, and the confidentiality involved when one is participating. I would also follow the respondents where they will be and interview them without interrupting their normal duties. This enabled me to keep the dialogue going and avoid getting off-track. The interviewees were always asked for consent to be recorded and in case they do not feel comfortable with taping the interview, the device will be not used.
