QUESTION 2
MEAN
Mean = =
= Mean travel time =27.209 mins
MEDIAN
fb
median = 19.5+(105-40)/67
median Travel time = 29.2 minutes
Modal travel time
Mode = l1 + C
= 67 – 27 = 40
= 67-45 = 22
= 19.5
19.5 + 20
= 19.5 + 6.452
Modal Travel time =25.95 minutes
QUESTION 3
The Parliamentarians should use modal travel time because it is lower than the mean travel time
Question 4
Standard Deviation

S.D =

= 3652.01191 – 750.3582
=
= 53.96
Definition of standard deviation
Standard deviation is a measure of the dispersion of a set of data from its mean. It is calculated as the square root of variance by determining the variation between each data point relative to the mean. If the data points are further from the mean, there is higher deviation within the data set.
In finance, standard deviation is a statistical measurement; when applied to the annual rate of return of an investment, it sheds light on the historical volatility of that investment. The greater the standard deviation of a security, the greater the variance between each price and the mean, indicating a larger price range. For example, a volatile stock has a high standard deviation, while the deviation of a stable blue-chip stock is usually rather low.
ASSIGNMENT TWO
Qn 1.
Required Litres of product 1 and 2 = 350 litres
Product 1 takes 2 hours per litre
Product 2 takes 1 hour per litre
Available hours 600
Qn 2. The production quantities that will satisfy the requirements specified above at minimum cost.
Product 1 costs $2 and product 2 costs $3
Required litres of product 1 is 125 litres
The hours required to produce product 1
The hours for producing product 2
125 x 2 =250
Total hours for producing 350 ltrs of product 1 & 2 is 475 hours.
Qn. 3. Total cost
Product 1
2 x 125 =$250
product 2
3 x 225 = $ 675
Total cost
250+675 =925
Qn. 4. Amount of any excess production
For 350 liters =475 hrs
But available hours =600
So 600-475
=125 excess hours
The total hours for producing 1 & 2 =3
Excess product =125/3
=41
